Welcome to Mid-Ohio Shrine Club.

Foster self-improvement through leadership, education, perpetuation of moral values and community involvement.

What is the Mid-Ohio Shrine Club?

The Mid-Ohio Shriners are members of the Al Koran Shrine, which covers the Northeast Counties of Ohio and is an organization that has a focus on children in our area. As part of the Shriners International Organization, we do more than just drive around in parades in the little yellow cars with funny hats. We are a group of local men working to help children in a unique way with our Philanthropy in Ashland, Crawford, Morrow & Richland Counties.

Our History

1920

In 1920, the Imperial Session of the Shriners was held in Portland, Oregon. During that session, the membership unanimously passed a resolution to establish what at the time was called the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children system. The first hospital in the system opened in 1922 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

1927

The Al Koran Shriners was formed from local Cleveland Freemasons in 1872. By 1927 the Erie Hospital specializing in Orthopedics was opened and helping children. Our Cincinnati Hospital is a leader in burn care and has specialized in the treatment of burns and burn-related injuries since opening in the mid-1960s.

1980 – 2017

In the early 1980s, the Shriners discovered yet another way it could help children: by opening the nation’s first pediatric spinal cord injury center. Today, Shriners has pediatric spinal cord injury centers in the Philadelphia, Chicago and Sacramento hospitals. Young people with spinal cord injuries find not only the specialized medical care needed for rehabilitation, but also hope, inspiration and strength with 22 Hospitals and our new Hospital opening July 2017 in Pasadena California.

2021 – Today

February of 2021 Shriners hospitals for Children relocated the Cincinnati Burn Hospital to Dayton Ohio. Nobles in Mid-Ohio area are developing a new Shrine Club with new members and established Al Koran Shriners that have been working the last several years establishing events in the Mid-Ohio Area. The focus of the Mid-Ohio Shrine Club (MOSC) is to build an organization to create awareness of our Philanthropy, Masonry and grow the local Brotherhood. Over the past several years MOSC has established events in the Mid-Ohio area. The Shriners Golf Open, Al Koran Luau, East-West Watch Party and Bike Rally. With the efforts of these events, we have created multiple new MM at Venus Lodge in Mansfield.

The Mid-Ohio Shrine Club will continue its current mission in growing our Brotherhood and improving our community one Noble at a time.
